Assessment on major production constraints, and reproductive performances of camel in West Hararghe Zone Oromia Ethiopia

The study was conducted in Mieso and Bordede districts, West Hararghe Zone of Oromiya National Regional State with the objectives assessing major constraints camel production, reproductive performances, physicochemical quality milk areas. A total 120 households (camel owners) were selected purposively for interview (i.e 20 from each kebeles). Feed shortage, conflict over scarcity natural resources, low productivity grazing land, water main production. mean age at first mating male female camels 5.92±2.91 4.79±1.84 years respectively, similarly, average number services per conception this finding 1.73±0.64. span area 20.04±6.50 25.20±7.83 years, respectively gestation period recorded lactation length a 9.77±2.10 17.30±5.66 months Bordede, respectively. Late maturity is reported as primary constraint followed by long calving interval, presence disease, rate birth stunted calves district. Whereas district late calf. In conclusion, one most important livestock pastoralists’ livelihood source milk, meat draught power. order to increase camels, such shortage feed water, disease problems others should be given attention.
